Every Business Owns IP: How does it affect you?
BIPC Northamptonshire
Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire at West Northamptonshire Council. Operating across the whole of Northamptonshire
On Wednesday the 13th of June we welcomed David Hopkins from the Intellectual Property Office who delivered a comprehensive workshop about how intellectual property (IP) effects business, with information about trademarks, copyright, designs and patents.
We separated into smaller groups and worked through a couple of scenarios such as deciding who owned what IP, including an accountancy firm that employed a software company to develop a database with nothing but a non-disclosure agreement in place. We then reformed and discussed our thoughts together. Participants went away with lots of knowledge to ensure their businesses do not run into trouble, in terms of protecting their own IP, but also not infringing the IP of others.
The participants got a lot out of the workshop, here is some of the feedback we received:
“Well presented”
“Interesting, new valuable information which I had zero knowledge about”
“Very informative and well delivered”
Thank you to David and the Intellectual Property Office for delivering such an informative and engaging workshop for us here at the Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire (BIPC).
If you want to find out more about the support we offer at the Business & IP Centre Northamptonshire, please visit our website www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/businesslibrary
We offer bookable one to one sessions to discuss IP with a member of our BIPC team. We can then arrange a further meeting with an IP attorney if you need more detailed advice. If you would like to book a one to one, please email [email protected]
