Every Bit Matters: The Power of Small Contributions
Our society continues to function because countless individuals and organisations are committed to making a difference. They are the unsung heroes, the catalysts of change, and the heartbeat of hope. Today, I invite you on a?journey that amplifies their voices and shines a light on their remarkable efforts.
A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step, said Chairman Mao.?Like many of you, my philanthropic journey began with small acts of giving – I wouldn’t even call it generosity- more like spare change, really.?I started by giving small amounts of money to those in need, temples, and small charities.?But these acts made me feel better about myself, and I became comfortable giving more significant amounts.
From Spare Change to Real Change
Over the past decade since I left full-time employment, I have gradually given more and more of my time to the social sector, which now accounts for nearly 80% of all that I do.?This brought me in contact with many amazing individuals and organisations whose work often spells the difference between hope and despair and even life and death for countless individuals.?Most of these organisations are run on a shoestring budget; they could do more good with our modest contributions. Their unwavering dedication and impact inspired me to do more, graduate from spare change, commit to real change, and give at the level I am really capable of.
Rishabh Lalani and Somedutta Chatterjee ( Give ) have helped me identify outstanding grassroots organisations that could really use more financial support.
Through “Spare Change to Real Change”, a series of inspiring video conversations with some incredible changemakers, I hope to persuade more of us to start giving more.

You don't have to be a certain age or stage to start giving
Many good people believe that giving or philanthropy is for a later stage in life after we have accumulated enough wealth. Others believe that their modest contributions won't really matter, or they don’t know which organisations to trust.?I want to assure you that “No amount is too small; every bit helps.” Also, giving is a journey; the best day to start anything positive is NOW.
These videos are more than just profiles; they are a call to action. It is my hope that as you witness the transformative power of these organisations, you will be moved to join us in supporting their noble causes.
Whether through small or large contributions,?we can make a meaningful difference and uplift the lives of those in need.
Get ready to meet the change-makers, the visionaries, and the champions of hope. Get ready to join hands, lend support, and be part of something greater than ourselves.

1 年Ravi...great thoughts. It's about doing and not looking for accolades. I would like to leave one thought here, are we as individual human beings doing what we should or feeling good on this from an ego perspective?
