Every Artist was First an Amateur
Eric Armusik
Classical Figurative Artist and Portrait Painter - Currently Painting the most epic series on Dante's Inferno
One of my favorite Emerson quotes! I love it because it really has a way of bringing us all down to earth. Established realist artists, get down off of your high horses. There was a time when we all were starting out and we produced terrible art. There was a time when we had no confidence and there was a time when people didn't believe in us when we shared our dreams and aspirations. Sure, some of us had natural, God-given talent, but even with that we still had a starting place that bears no resemblance to who we are today. I reflect on this fact every single day. It keeps me grounded and it helps me to put myself in the shoes of every artist that comes to me with a lack of self-confidence, worry, and confusion. We all started from the same place. Every artist was first an amateur.

6 年Now I just noticed your publications Eric. Every art historian was once an amatuer too. I am still an amatuer but slightly developed art researcher. Like you you cant teach people to become an art researcher they have to work hard and learn how to do it themselves. It is all in the development. So in your case Eric Armusik "The Development of a Caravaggio" styled artist. It looks as though your manager is waiting for you to become Shakespeare too to arrange a major exhibition on your life and works yourself. I will read your publications and get back to you Eric. I dont often read peoples modern publications as I am always too busy keeping up reading from this history of the Italian Renaissance. You have caught my eye Eric that for some reason I wish to know more about you and your works. I could then better picture it in my head how long it would take the likes of Tiziano or Leonardo da Vinci to paint the "Mona Lisa". These artists were born to be artists and I feel I wish to compare them with you. Is there any other artists out there that you can compare to paint as good as you Eric in the Caravaggio style? It is very clear we can see you can paint like a Master but can you paint like Titian and use your fingers?

6 年Is there anything like terrible art ? There's no single piece that can be called terrible out of all you have produced since your early years. Lots of so called masters don't have the pedigree of anatomy you portray in your works at your early stage !
