Every #1 needs a #2

#FINANCE and #ACCOUNTING LEADERS are you BURNED OUT ?? from being everyone's #1? If YES, consider this spot-on hiring advice from Steve Jobs:

Taking this a step further, every #1 needs an indispensable #2.

That right-hand man or woman.

The person who is smarter than you (or should be) and you’re okay with that.

Because THEY’RE showing YOU how to get things done more accurately, more efficiently, and with better results.

“I need one of those!” you might be saying to yourself.

Yes, you do!

If you don’t have one (or the one you have isn’t cutting it), think about all that it is costing you NOT having that fantastic #2 performer:

??You’re making mistakes that aren’t who you are, because you’re burned out and you ARE human.

? You’re working with your hair on fire, always under the gun, even missing deadlines.

??Deliverables are completed minutes before big meetings and presentations, and you’re winging it.

??Every night you kiss your spouse or kids good night and head back to the home office with coffee in hand. Weekends off are a thing of the past, or never existed at all.

??Leadership is breathing down your neck for high level financial and strategic guidance but you Just. Don’t. Have. It. You’re either tied up with maintenance activities OR putting out fires.

??The company may be doing fine, but you know how much more could be accomplished if you were free to deliver at the highest level possible.

It’s a harsh picture, but one many clients paint for me when they’re missing that #2 role.

Someone like them but even better.
