Everlyn Musyoka receives the IFAMA 2024 International Women in Agribusiness Award

IFAMA is pleased to honor Everlyn Musyoka as the 2024 inaugural recipient of the International Women in Agribusiness Award. This new award, that will be given annually, is intended to showcase women who are making exemplary contributions to local and global ag-sector.

Everlyn Musyoka grew up in a rural community, in a farming family located one hour outside of Nairobi. She overcame numerous challenges to become a top student. Her parents instilled within her a work ethic, integrity, accountability,? and dedication to community well-being. These guiding principles inspired her to study agriculture and business which has ultimately shaped her impactful career.

Everlyn sits on the executive leadership team for Africa Crop Science for Bayer | Crop Science and leads the smallholder strategy for the region, and other areas across Africa. She has spent over 20 years working in the agribusiness sector, with smallholders. She tackles the challenges facing farmers holistically. Throughout her work, she has demonstrated the following:


Outstanding Leadership and Innovative Solutions

Everlyn spearheaded the strategy driving Bayer's business growth in the smallholder segment across priority countries, impacting 8.9 million smallholders to date.

She has brought knowledge and technology to smallholder farmers, tirelessly building ecosystems for farmers to thrive. She is instrumental in bringing the Better Life Farming program to Africa and managing more than 20 priority partnerships and collaborations that drive commercial business forward.


Advocacy for Women Empowerment in Agriculture

Everlyn is an advocate for the education and empowerment of women in agriculture. Besides mentoring colleagues in Nairobi, she uses speaking opportunities to advocate for women farmers and thoughtful agricultural development.

As a farmer, Everlyn is an inspiring example of an entrepreneurial woman in her community and advocates for the Holistic Agri-business Partnership program in Kenya and Bayer’s Village-based advisor program which builds and supports the empowerment of women in agriculture.


Sustainable Agricultural Practices

Everlyn advocates for community development, environmental conservation, and its impact on food security. She regularly visits and invites key partners to the field to see firsthand the benefits of regenerative and sustainable agricultural practices and shares her knowledge with industry stakeholders.

She is working to help address environmental degradation and the effects of climate change in her community. Everlyn ensures that sustainable practices are practically applied to benefit both the land and the people.

Advancement of Agricultural Technology and Digital Solutions

Everlyn is advancing agricultural technology and digital solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency in the industry through leading Bayer’s digital transformation in Africa for SHFs, collaborating with partners like One Acre Funds , growers’ associations, and other influential organizations and institutions.

She is optimistic about Africa's ag tech and digital future, believing in the continent's potential to leapfrog existing technologies by devising platforms and partnerships in the ag tech and digital space to enable future business growth which has impacted 8.9 million smallholders to date.
