Evercreech AD reaches a new milestone

We have reached a significant milestone at our new anaerobic digestion plant, Evercreech Renewable Energy (“Evercreech”) in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

In December, the plant completed its first injection of biomethane into the gas network, providing energy to help meet the energy demands of both the local residential and business communities. Up to 8,000 homes will benefit from locally-produced green energy.

We are currently ramping up to full production and are receiving feedstocks from local food and organic waste producers to enable the biological anaerobic digestion process to generate green gas.

Evercreech is the latest addition to Adapt Biogas’ growing portfolio of green energy assets and is funded by parent company Macquarie Capital. This financial support has enabled?Adapt Biogas to develop a nationally significant green energy project to inject gas into the gas network operated by Wales and West Utilities.

The site will be able to process a range of food and organic waste from commercial and industrial sources, along with domestic food waste collected by Local Authorities, totalling 95,000 tonnes per year. Evercreech offers a green and commercially beneficial alternative for food producers by diverting their waste from traditional unsustainable disposal methods such as landfill.

Managing director, James Thompson said:

Patrick Ottersbach, managing director at Macquarie Capital Principal Finance added:

“We are delighted to have supported Adapt Biogas achieve this significant milestone at the Evercreech plant, through our financial investment and expertise. Achieving gas to grid is a positive contribution to the UK’s energy transition.”

The plant is now open to support any food and drink manufacturers who want to sustainably dispose their waste locally and Adapt Biogas would welcome the opportunity to explore green waste solutions with local businesses.

If you are interested in finding out more about our Evercreech plant or have feedstocks available, please get in touch; we would love to hear from you. Go to our website for more details.
