Have you ever been to watch a Valencia football match at their stadium, Mestalla? At full capacity, it hosts 55.000 people. That's now officially less than the number of foreign buyers in Spain in 2017. In different words, 1 in 6 buyer in Spain is either British, French, German, Belgian, Swedish, Italian, Romanian, Chinese Moroccan, Russian, Swiss, Norwegian, American, Dutch, and the list goes on with over 50 nationalities.

What type of Spanish properties do foreign buyers purchase?

If you think they only buy luxury properties, think again ! The average property purchased by a foreign buyer is worth 161.000€ (see here for more details). This makes the market of international buyers in Spain a 9 billion euros market in terms of transactions.

Spanish provinces where foreign buyers represent more than 30% of the buyers

In Alicante (40%), Tenerife (40%), the Balearic Islands (31%), Girona (30%) and Malaga (29%), foreign buyers represent a massive proportion of transactions. Even in Barcelona, Valencia or Madrid the proportions are very high, from 5 to 10% of transactions.

Those figures are extremely impressive, because in more than 13 provinces foreign buyers represent over 10% of the market!
