Ever Wonder If You Can Change the Site Links That Google Displays Under Your Pages on the SERPs?

Ever notice the site links that appear just below the main results on the SERPs? Ever wonder if you could change the ones that correspond to your own pages? Well, so did one of our clients, and when she reached out to Valeria Ortega, her BSM project manager, we did a little digging.?

See what we learned by watching Valerie’s video on the subject:

If you are short on time, here's a quick summary of the key takeaways:

  • Site links typically appear below the main results for branded searches, which are queries that contain company-specific terms.
  • Site owners do not have control over the links that Google believes will be most useful to the person making the query.
  • There are a few best practices you can follow to influence Google’s algorithm, however, including:
  • Using informative, relevant, and concise headings
  • Creating a logical site structure that's easy to navigate
  • Linking to important pages from other relevant pages
  • Making the internal links' anchor text concise and relevant
  • Not using the same content on different pages

If you do come across a site link you don't want to appear on the SERP at all, you can remove the page it directs to or block search indexing.

I hope you enjoyed learning about site links and how you may be able to influence Google’s algorithm in choosing them.

Have a question about search engine optimization? I’m always eager to perform research and answer any SEO-related questions you may have.?
