Once a month, record your voice reading a paragraph from a book or a poem.
- Tempo: Too fast
- Volume: Too quiet
- Tone: Too abrasive
- Emphasis: Monotone delivery
- Clarity: Key words lacking distinction
- Pauses: Not enough, emphasis and clarity lost
- Tempo: Deliberately speak very slowly until you are comfortable doing that
- Volume: Without straining your voice, develop it so that anyone in the audience can hear you
- Tone: Practice until you get a mellower sound
- Emphasis: Read your material putting exaggerated emphasis on certain words until you get comfortable with variation
- Clarity: Read, making sure each word can be understood. Don't get tired at the end of a sentence, avoid dropping your voice
- Pauses: Read with exaggerated space between words. Notice how that helps emphasis and clarity

1 年Thanks Jim! I remember, as a young lawyer trying to emulate your voice. I am looking forward to the next video.

1 年Thx to you Jim Brosnahan I overcame my fear of talking effectively to large groups. I learned so much by taking part in your mock trials while at MoFo. Mucho gracias for these tips.
Excellent. Thank you.
