Ever thought of having a remote work placement?

It's been an amazing 9 months with my remote work placement Vyshnavi Kotagiri from 英国赫瑞瓦特大学 , she started with me when I was in a partnership and has been such a help with me launching my new solo business this July. Here's what Vyshnavi said about her placement.

To everyone who is reading this, a big Hello from me. My name is Vyshnavi Kotagiri . I am an international student studying MSc International Business Management with Industrial Placement at 英国赫瑞瓦特大学 , Edinburgh. It all started in January this year when I just finished the first year of my two-year course and was eagerly anticipating a?placement opportunity. It was stressful to find a good company but now when I look back it was worth it. Being new I started with lots?of speculations in my mind but all these vanished when I got the opportunity to work with amazing people like Julie Taylor ?? and Louisa Stewart from Blue Ninja . I could not thank Julie and Louisa enough for being so welcoming and warm.

I started my Support Ninja placement on 16th February 2022. After working for 5 months, I moved to another company called Buzz Business Networking in July as a Worker Bee which was solely founded by Julie after ending her business partnership with Louisa. From then to now, it has been such an enriching placement experience for me. This opportunity introduced me to the space, where I always wanted to be in 'The world of work'. Being an international?student,?one of my main reasons for?studying?abroad?is to?have a successful future career. I believe this placement is one of the prime steps and this experience taught me the culture of the workplace and also helped me to gain transferable skills which will be useful in a professional environment and corporate world in the near future.

During my placement, I had the opportunity to work with extraordinary people like Julie under whose guidance I was able to achieve the daily tasks and overall goals. Although she explained my role and responsibilities while recruiting, she was kind enough to give me space to explore more. She guided me in every step and encouraged me to work on my interested area of business, which is marketing. I worked on different areas of marketing and figured out my strengths and in what areas I needed to work on more. This exposure helped me to gain clarity in deciding my future career in the field of marketing.

In my time working, I have carried out research on her current and past contacts, followers, and customers of the company. Also, frequently updated with the current information and developed a client's journey. I also prepared the monthly reports of the company's social media sites such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter, and also worked on various tasks like newsletter writing, drafting documents, researching co-working spaces in The Netherlands, social media research, and management. I executed the research on different networking groups and found out more about their members. Apart from this, I also got access to attend various webinars and courses from business gateway and Google digital garage. These webinars?helped me to gain new skills which helped me to complete the above tasks more effectively.

Furthermore, I participated in the online monthly networking sessions conducted by the Julie

I also got a chance to attend two in-person networking events in Edinburgh and two online networking events conducted by the Revitalise Networking networking group led by Lee Foster and supported by Jay Cramb , Ian Shapiro & Isabel Lockhart .

These networking events had been the icing on the cake and I remember one of my proud moments while attending my first In-person event in June organised by Lee Foster . During the introduction round, I introduced myself to a room of over 45 business owners without any nervousness. Which I got appreciation from Julie and the event organiser. This uplifted my morale and since then there is no look back (thank you for the photo Nate Cleary, Commercial, Fashion, Event Photographer ). Meeting new people, and professionals, making genuine connections with them, and learning from their experiences has not only increased my self-confidence and communication but also motivated me to work harder towards my goals.

Being a placement student, I was fortunate enough to have a unique experience where I was empowered, inspired, and learned something new every other day. It has taught me the importance of flexibility, working under pressure, and meeting up deadlines. It enhanced my creative, and problem-solving skills and made me a multi-tasker in every means. These past 9 months had been the most amazing in my life which taught me invaluable learnings and skills that will definitely spark my career for many years to come. The practical knowledge I gained here will help me to face the real-world post-graduation. This experience has brought me closer to my dreams and I am excited about what the future has in store for me.

In this journey, I couldn't thank Julie enough. She has been with me throughout my journey. Every single effort of mine is highly appreciated no matter how small it is. This encouragement boosted my confidence to a greater extent in becoming more responsible. Julie has been very kind and patient with me throughout. She is so welcoming with my opinions and suggestions all the way. I appreciate all her patience while explaining the tasks to me and answering my queries. Thank you so much Julie for the opportunity to be your Worker Bee. I am grateful for all the experience I gained throughout, which in turn will add value to my future job. I wholeheartedly appreciate your constant feedback, immense support, guidance, mentorship, and encouragement. It means a lot to me. It was my pleasure working with you and will look forward to collaborating with you in the future.
