Ever-Shifting Evil
Beneath the skin, beneath the bones,
Lurks a darkness all our own,
Born of fear, greed, and hate,
It never dies, just shifts in shape.
It slithers like a serpent in the grass,
A cancerous growth that's sure to last,
It coils and twists, waiting to strike,
Leaving nothing but pain and blight.
In the depths of man, it breeds and thrives,
Twisting hearts and corrupting lives,
A poison that seeps into every pore,
A curse that no one can ignore.
It festers and grows, an endless tide,
As it spreads, it won't be denied,
A shadow that stretches across the land,
A curse that none can withstand.
The evil in people's hearts is a force to fear,
A thing that never fades, never clears,
It changes shape, but it's always there,
A blackness that none can repair.
