Ever seen an Attorney in action?
I'm not talking about on Television although Jackie Chiles is the man. So is Saul Goodman.
I'm totally derailed now because I'm thinking about the best attorney characters on TV. I guess it depends if you're looking for comedy or drama.
Matthew McConaughey's character is awesome in "A time to kill".
Also like Tom Cruise's character in "A few good men".
Don't forget Matlock.
Who's your favorite on screen lawyer?
I thought about this topic because I was prompted to answer a question by LinkedIn recently about preparing for an interview and one of the topics was practicing the interview.
And it makes sense whether it's real life or on screen.
Tom Cruise didn't perfect Lt. Daniel Kaffee by walking into the room and winging it. And he gets paid millions for a movie.
You think you're a better Actor than Tom?
I was witness to a presentation by an attorney once who was fighting a civil case on my behalf and me and this guy had known each other for years at this point but until then it had been a personal relationship.
This was my first time seeing him professionally and blown away would be an understatement.
He blew away our opposition so at the conclusion I said how did you do that?
His response: I was practicing all weekend.
This is a case where he'd make a few thousand dollars and he was getting paid regardless and he prepared all weekend. Other than a loss on his record on the line there wasn't a lot of financial risk for him and he prepared all weekend.
You're walking into a meeting that could be the difference between keeping or losing your home and you're going to wing it.
We are talking about practice - Allen.
Try it.
And good luck out there.
