The Ever Evolving Business Statement

Over the last several months, I have been asked a question repeatedly that I thought I had the answer for.

What does your company do?

It’s a simple question, one that I have answered repeatedly in a very enthusiastic and detailed manner. But its one that I’ve now come to realize is never simple. And the answer has changed to become more detailed, or less detailed. It changes depending on your audience. Its rarely the same for every person. So it was in having conversations about this with my colleague that a statement was brought up that just seemed to click with me. It felt like the best way to describe what we hope to accomplish with our business partners.

What does our company do?

We provide CTO as a service.

Simple. But the more you think about it, the more complex it becomes. Some people have asked me what a CTO is. Some people get intimidated by the title. It’s a position that larger companies would have, something that evokes imagery of a management heavy, fortune 500 company. The Chief Technology Officer (or Chief Information Officer – CIO) role varies with many organizations, but at its core it’s a position that is focused on scientific and technological issues within an organization. The role would be responsible for coming up with a plan or roadmap for your company to alleviate any technological pain points. This can encompass everything from Information Security, to improving efficiencies, to improving communications.

In the new information and digital ages, these are problems that speak to companies of all shapes, sizes, and markets. Many companies don’t have the resources or the confidence to tackle these issues themselves, and that’s where our company exists. You are able to continue doing what you do best, run and grow your business, while we are able to do what we do best, help your business achieve that growth with a technology plan that accommodates you, and fits your budget.
