The Strategic Alliance of Europe’s National Bureaux Set to Convene in Edinburgh
The alliance led by Eric Bakermans of the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions and Matthias Schultze of the German Convention Bureau aims to strengthen Europe’s position as a leading destination for international business events. The upcoming meeting in Scotland will preview the agenda for Convene 4 Climate, scheduled for 2–3 October in collaboration with PCMA in Barcelona, Spain. Discussions will focus on the future of business events in Europe and the development of the Sustainability Hub for Events, an AI-powered platform promoting sustainable practices. Matthias Schultze highlighted the meeting as a key step in solidifying Europe’s global leadership in business events. Neil Brownlee, Head of Business Events at VisitScotland, expressed pride in hosting the meeting, emphasising the importance of collaboration in enhancing Europe’s global standing and driving economic and social transformation through business events. The meeting represents a commitment to collective progress in the industry.

The site integrates film, photography, and sound, offering an immersive digital experience of the brand’s hotels, spas, and leisure businesses. The website’s development follows a two-year effort to redefine the brand’s identity, working with BrandSensory? to create a sensory profile for each property that resonates with modern consumers. Emphasising neuromarketing, the website aims to stand out in a competitive market while reflecting the brand’s purpose of “creating happiness in amazing places.” As a B Corp, Exclusive Collection integrates its conscientious business approach into the site to appeal to like-minded audiences. The website features responsive design, intuitive navigation, and clear calls to action to convert digital visitors into real-time guests, including the newly added Ansty Hall. This marks a new digitized legacy for the family-owned collection.

Call for Research by 15Hatfields as Microplastics Detected in Human Brains
15Hatfields, a leading sustainable events venue in London, is advocating for more research after US scientists detected microplastics in human brains for the first time. The study, not yet peer-reviewed, found that tiny particles less than five millimeters in size are infiltrating human organs, including the brain, through pathways like inhalation, ingestion, or the bloodstream. Since 2008, 15Hatfields has campaigned against single-use plastics, achieving significant success through its ‘Make Plastic History’ campaign, which eradicated single-use plastics from the venue, saving thousands of items from being discarded annually. General manager Warren Campbell emphasised the dangers of single-use plastics, highlighting their role in chemical pollution and wildlife harm, and expressed concern over the potential health impacts on humans. He called for more research to understand the health implications fully and reaffirmed the venue’s commitment to educating the industry on the need to eliminate single-use plastics.
