Events done differently: Issue 6

Welcome to issue 6 of our newsletter!

We're still riding the high of winning the prestigious Conference & Incentive Travel (C&IT) award for "Best Sustainability Initiative" for Skipton Building Society's Leadership Event!

Skipton shares simplybetter’s vision for a more sustainable future. We have worked in close partnership with them for over a decade now, creating events with sustainability in mind. They tasked us with making their annual Leadership Event their “most sustainable ever”. A bold brief, and one that we grasped with both hands, designing and delivering a cutting-edge event experience that had sustainability at its core.

To have the hard work and dedication, to a plant-first strategy, recognised with this award is exhilarating, and feels so rewarding.

You can read more about how we helped Skipton Building Society create their most sustainable event ever here. Or catch up on-demand and watch the webinar we ran with them this year, on exactly this topic.

Having just received the award for the Skipton Leadership event, we can attest to how important reward and recognition are within an organisation. It strengthens culture, dramatically impacts retention and drives productivity.

With that in mind, we've looked at how the power of imagination can help in making your people feel special. We’ve talked a lot recently about Reward and Recognition events and the power of moments and emotion. So, in our latest article, we wanted to share with you a few of our favourite standalone events that really stretched the boundaries in terms of imagination, ingenuity and surprise.

These were events that went far beyond the usual annual dinner. They were not about the company and how well it’s doing. These were events to celebrate the people – the powerhouse of any organisation – as a whole, as teams and as individuals.

SharkBeauty and British Vogue's '5 Days of Beauty'

We were delighted to work together with Shark Beauty to deliver an experiential event at Vogue House in London, as part of the final outing of British Vogue's '5 Days of Beauty'. Attendees were welcomed through the doors of the magazine’s famous HQ for a panel talk with Chris Appleton and were then invited to discover all things hair styling with Shark Beauty and their expert stylists. It was a real honour to be part of such a renowned and prestigious event, a true fashion lover's dream!

The simplybetter family continues to grow, so much so that we had to move office to make space for us all! Checkout our brand new home in this VT.

So, please join us in giving a big shout-out to our amazing team old and new!

Here's what our new (ish!) Creative Manager Georgia Scott and Copywriter Rob Gilroy had to say about their first few months at simplybetter...

We also want to celebrate some of our newest team members, and some of our longstanding team. We thought you might like to get to know them all a little better...

New team member Ric, existing team Ester, Rachel and Jen

Please give a big simplybetter welcome to our new Graphic Designer Ric Battin. It's great to have him on board and he's already producing some fantastic design work for projects and pitches.

Next up we've got our awesome Event Project Director, Rachel Alston-Smith . Rachel’s been with us for about a year now. Dedicated to delivering quality events, she brings a wealth of production knowledge from her audio-visual background. Which also explains why she’s our go-to expert on all things show tunes!

One year ago, Esther Day joined our small Creative team as Creative Lead. Now, she’s our Production Design Lead and part of a thriving (and growing) line-up. Esther designs our events and really brings them to life, from creating initial structural concepts and set designs to seeing them through to stunning reality with 3D visualisations and on-site creative support.

Last but by no means least we have our wonderful Director Jenny Woodhead. She lives and breathes all things simplybetter and as well as possessing an expert eye for the perfect venue for your event, Jen also keeps the Business Support team ticking.

We're so lucky to have all of you with us!
