My client… is a specialist networks, communications and insight agency, focused on the global renewable energy markets. Following sustained membership, then events growth, they are looking for an experienced, analytical and commercially focused event director to develop and drive their portfolio of events, building/leading a team across all key disciplines, this is a newly created role.

 

The right candidate… will be an ambitious self-starter, with proven event production experience. The right candidate will be looking to join a fast growth business and gain an insight into the changing dynamics that exist within the global renewable energy markets.

 

The Events Director role is best suited to a degree-educated individual with  proven experience of developing and building an events programme within the energy markets. The candidate will benefit from strong analytical thinking and have a proven track record of hitting and exceeding agreed performance targets through a consultative industry engagement.

 

Above all else, the successful candidate will be an ambitious, sociable individual who wants to grow in a role alongside an energetic and vibrant team within an entrepreneurial business.

 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Taking overall responsibility for global event strategy and performance, building and leading an events team across all disciplines
  • Proactively ensuring the success of high-profile events for the benefit of speakers, sponsors, delegates and members, whilst maximising profits and controlling spend
  • Taking overall ownership and accountability of all elements of event sales, marketing, production and operation, working closely with the senior management team
  • Creating a strong working relationship with membership and consulting divisions, ensuring that the events programme delivers against our 3–5-year strategic plan
  • Support the company's senior management team to ensure the smooth running of the business, as we continue to scale up the company and deliver against our mission

 

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Prior experience in the energy/renewable energy events sector
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar level role
  • An ability to conduct research, analysis and relationship development within the market to write up coherent business plans for events
  • A thorough understanding of setting annual P&L for multiple events to enable success in meeting and exceeding budgeted net profit
  • Excellent people management skills across a range of teams (Performance Management, Bonus Plans, Staff Appraisals, Coaching) - Events, Sales etc
  • Proven skills in maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across the business including sales, marketing, operations etc
  • Experience in fostering and maintaining positive and professional relationships.
