Eventful summer at Siemens DISW

During my summer internship at Siemens Digital Industries Software in their SSP Program, I experienced much more than learning new technical skills and tackling business challenges. I honed my data analysis, visualization, GTM, and customer journey mapping skills, which were crucial for my role at Siemens. It was a genuinely enriching experience where I consistently felt challenged, valued, and empowered to make bold leadership decisions. This internship helped me reflect on my key strengths and gave me a fresh perspective on achieving goals.

The SSP program stands for the Siemens Student Program. It offers a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in cutting-edge projects and gain hands-on experience in their chosen field. The program emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and professional development, making it an excellent platform for students to grow and prepare for future careers.

I was placed as an E-Commerce Marketing Analyst - Intern in the DAA (Data Analytics Automation) - Incubation Services team. My key responsibilities were to observe patterns and trends of the customer journey to purchase Siemens software through their digital store. This brought a lot of learning of the B2B world, and the ever-transforming marketing strategies focused on gaining traction. Along with technically challenging projects, I was given ample opportunities to hone my presentation skills, identify core strengths through training and behavioral assessments, and balance critical skills.

A good team environment is required to nurture talent; I was blessed in this area as my team took collaboration to the next level. I am grateful to my manager, Jeff Wymer, who has always motivated me and shared his thoughts for improvements in the ongoing projects, allowing me to learn from his perspective. My mentors, Hazel and Stephen, whom I constantly contacted for support and feedback during the internship, have always been accessible and thoughtful in elevating my learning through various tasks and have been helpful. A shoutout to the other intern, Ellie, where we went through the ambiguous objectives of the projects one step at a time and branched off each other's strengths. Working with the entire team was a pleasure, and I look forward to more collaboration in the future.
