Event Updates: National Poomsae Championships 2023 – Clarification of Kup competition format and extension to entry period

Details of event updates for the British Taekwondo National Poomsae Championships in Worcester.

Update 1 – Clarification of Kup competition format

British Taekwondo has received some queries around the competition format for the Kup divisions for the 2023 National Poomsae Championships. We would like to confirm that the ranges for each Kup category will be

  • K3 Individuals/Pairs/Teams: Competitor’s choice from Taegeuk 1 to Taegeuk 3. The poomsae can be repeated in the same round.
  • K2 Individuals/Pairs/Teams: Competitor’s choice from Taegeuk 3 to Taegeuk 6. The poomsae cannot be repeated in the same round.
  • K1 Individuals/Pairs/Teams: Compulsory poomsae (the poomsae will be drawn between Taegeuk 4 and Taegeuk 8).

We will be reviewing the format for Kup competition following this year’s championships and will look for input on changes that might improve the experience for competitors especially in the K2 and K3 categories.

Update 2 – Extension to entry period

In light of clarification on the Kup competition format, the entry period for British Taekwondo National Poomsae Championships has been extended by 3 days.

The new closing date will be 11pm on Wednesday 4th October.
