Event stuck in the maze of lockdown rules? Let's go online!

The lockdown, imposed as a solution to the Covid-19 global pandemic, has stopped many activities and has forced many organizers to cancel their events.

Among the many global level conferences scheduled for Spring 2020 there was also the annual congress organized by IWTO, the International Wool Textile Organisation.

Initially scheduled in Tongxiang-Puyuan, China, it was then moved to Brussels, Belgium at the beginning of March, precisely to try to face the first restrictions that were affecting the Chinese area.

But nothing to do, the spread has rapidly expanded worldwide, generating a series of side effects, including the impossibility of moving across the borders, and #StayAtHome quickly became a trendsetting hashtag.

The annual event par excellence of the IWTO soon became at risk, however, a solution was found: the e-Congress!

The concept that "Wool Is Cool" is trending. But now wool is also digital!

The OC put together the ideal machine to deal with this project. The team hired an internationally renowned master of ceremonies, defined six themes for six sessions, invited 15 panelists from all over the world to speak, and identified a series of digital channels of communication on which to spread the contents. The result went beyond all expectations!

Nickland Media was the company in charge of supervising and implementing the management, coordination and broadcasting of all digital products. Nicolò Caneparo, founder of the company, has been working for the IWTO since 2013. He had the opportunity to start looking after some aspects of digital production during the edition held in Biella, IT, then, step by step, he was entrusted with technical supervision, for the annual round tables which took place in Biella, IT and Buenos Aires, AR, and for the annual congresses which took place in Harrogate, UK, Hong Kong, HK, Venice, IT and this last one, from the Nickland Media's headquarters.

This new experimental online event let many people realize that there's such a value-added into the face-to-face meetings, therefore that putting some free contents on the network doesn't hurt anything or anyone, and above all, that we will never take it for granted again when we can get together and meet somewhere!
