Event Streaming's Time is Now
Data people live in the world of facts. Consider these:
2011 - 3 engineers working for LinkedIn create Kafka. It's the data streaming platform that eliminates the ad hoc, real-time integrations underpinning microservices.
2014 - With LinkedIn as one of their initial funders, those 3 engineers found Confluent. With Kafka now an open source asset at the Apache Foundation, they create a company to deliver the tooling, UI, and off the shelf integrations to allow any team to adopt event stream processing.
2021 - Confluent becomes a publicly traded company on NASDAQ with 2,800 customers, double the number of one year earlier.
Analyst firms like Gartner, take these facts and place them in context for their clients. One of Gartner's tools is their annual "Hype Cycle for Data Management." Here's how their 2021 report characterized Event Stream Processing:

And here's how they defined what we at Confluent call "Data in Motion"
For context, Transformational is the top category within their framework (the others were High, Medium, and Low). Gartner went to say that 10 companies deliver these resources. All of them integrate with Apache Kafka, 4 of them are active Confluent partners, and 5 base their solutions on Apache Kafka.
In addition to Confluent, the other companies offering our capabilities to their customers are each of the major cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, and Google, as well as IBM.
Kafka Summit begins on Tuesday and is where the companies, teams, and practitioners working in this space come together to share their best practices, war stories, and sometimes, just how much better their organization has done with Data In Motion. It's your opportunity to hear from your peers on how they've made data leverage easier and better form their agencies. Registering means you can tune during the Summit or catch the sessions you'll want to hear on your schedule.
Government teams will want to hear George Padavick from the Ohio Department of Transportation present on how they've deployed Confluent to enhance the real-time capabilities of their ITS platform.
