Event Recap: Start From Digital Innovation to Uplift the New Capital City (IKN) by Indigo, co-organized by Innovation Factory.

To start the first weeks of May, nothing is better than listening to leaders talk and the startup clinic that goes along with it. We had just finished our leaders talk event, co-organized with Indigo.

The topic brought this time is “Start From Digital Innovation to Uplift the New Capital City (IKN)” discussing mainly about IKN and the perspectives it brings to the public.

Held on the 7th of May, we brought Mr. Fauzan Feisal the DEVP & Digitalization of Telkom Indonesia and Mr. Natali Ardianto the CEO of Lifepack & Co-Initiator of StartupLokal.

Not only Leaders Talk, we also had a mentoring session through the Startup Clinic with Andora Michi (Director of Ops Innovation Factory), Ken Ratri Iswari (Founder & CEO of Geekhunter), and Rayhan Gautama (Co-Founder & CEO of Pajak.io). Highlighting the Leaders Talk on this topic, there are some highlights to be noted from the event.

Quoted from Mr. Fauzan Feisal:

There are three pillars of IKN as a city.

  1. Developing smart city infrastructure by maintaining its main livelihood and supporting the system of the people.
  2. Positive implementation of digitalization, innovation, and environment into the IKN's ecosystem to build sustainability.
  3. Inclusivity, especially the disability-friendly initiatives provided in the infrastructure and urban planning.

As a newly developed city, the main concern IKN will face include the reliance on foreign investment to stress the need for domestic or local contribution economically that must increase. A smart city aims to promote happiness through technology-advanced facilities involving digitalization.

Quoted from Mr. Natali Ardianto:

IKN is geographically advantageous. Its planning is meticulous and thoroughly researched on the cause-and-effect dynamics, thus adding a plus point to the economic landscape. IKN future development is the timing and importance of preparation. Startups need to prioritize the ease of use for the populace, not just technological advancements for the solutions.

Telkom Indonesia serves a commitment to IKN by citing a partnership with Zoom for the broadcast of Indonesia’s Independence Day ceremony in August 2024. This commitment is also a call for the tech ecosystem to unite and propose collaborative solutions. Moreover, he also stated that this commitment will foster growth and connectivity.

We hope to see more of IKN’s progress and development fostering the startup and local economic landscape in the future.
