NEC gains planning consent to open one of the UK’s largest glamping resorts late 2024
The NEC Group has announced that planning consent has been approved to host one of the UK’s largest glamping resorts on its NEC Campus in Solihull.
Spades are due to go in the ground in the coming months for the site which will be situated by the lake opposite the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) and Resorts World Arena.

ABPCO and Lime Venue Portfolio partner to ask if the industry is ‘Making Legacy A Thing?’
The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) has joined forces with Lime Venue Portfolio and The Imperial War Museum London to produce a live discussion on how legacy is changing the way major events are produced. The event, which will take place 23rd May, will include a roundtable discussion with input from Sammy Connell, Principle Official (Conferences and Events), and Chris Weavers, National Official (Campaigns and Communications), from NASUWT, The Teachers Union and James Lancaster, Editor Associations Meeting International.
The discussion will look to challenge if events are getting this opportunity wrong, and why, as well as shine a light on where more modern approaches are making a tangible difference for both the event and the communities they serve. As part of the event, Lime Venue Portfolio will preside over a ‘Legacy-Led Menu’ while The Imperial War Museum London will present special insight into their own approach to legacy

Viagogo to compensate 800+ consumers following six year legal battle with Swiss consumer protection organisation
Viagogo has reached a settlement with the Fédération Romande des Consommateurs (FRC), Switzerland’s largest consumer protection organisation.
The secondary ticketing marketplace, which has its European headquarters in Switzerland, has allocated 100,000 CHF (roughly €105,000 or £90,000) as compensation for the 807 individuals that lodged complaints against Viagogo with the FRC prior to 5 February, 2024.
EventWell to launch new service at International Confex
The charitable social enterprise, EventWell, has announced it will be expanding its support services with the launch of the EventWell? Buddy service at International Confex 2024, at ExCeL London on February 28-29, 2023.
Helen Moon, founder and chief executive of EventWell, explained, “It is currently estimated that 15 – 20% of the population are neurodivergent, with approximately 8 out of 10 of those individuals choosing not to attend events due to anxiety, uncertainty around accommodations, communication challenges and more.

ecolibrium invests over £650,000 in climate projects
The event charity ecolibrium celebrated its community’s collective investment of over £650,000 in climate projects to address the impact of travel at events, in Bristol’s Artist’s Residence, Feb 2024.
Over 80 members and supporters of the ecolibrium community attended the event to hear from the ecolibrium team and environmental project partners about this significant climate investment milestone, following donations collected from members to acknowledge the environmental impacts of travel since the charity began in 2016 through to 2023.
RADAR becomes first festival to donate percentage of ticket sales to Music Venue Trust
Music Venue Trust (MVT), which represents hundreds of UK Grassroots Music Venues (GMVs), has announced a new agreement with RADAR Festival.
