Event | After TikTok Shop Banned, What’s Next for Indonesian E-commerce?
7.5 Degree
7.5 Degree is a digital media platform dedicated to focusing on the emerging economies of China and Southeast Asia.
It's been several days since the official ban of TikTok Shop in Indonesia, and sellers are still trying various methods to clear their inventory or continue driving traffic through live streaming on TikTok without the shopping feature. Most Indonesian sellers haven't given up on the Indonesian e-commerce market despite the ban of TikTok Shop. After all, Southeast Asia's TikTok Shop generated a GMV of $4.4 billion in 2022, with Indonesia contributing $2.5 billion, nearly 60% of the total.
However, nobody knows exactly when TikTok Shop will return. In the meantime, sellers are left to help themselves. External traffic redirection is one of the most common solutions. For instance, Indonesian TikTok Shop sellers can use e-commerce management tools to create landing pages and redirect users to their Shopee links so TikTok users can directly navigate to the seller's Shopee store to make purchases.
Redirecting traffic to familiar e-commerce platforms in Indonesia like Shopee Mall, LazMall, and Tokopedia is more likely to attract users to order, thereby capturing the traffic originally intended for TikTok Shop. However, redirecting traffic to an independent site can also build private domain traffic, which is favorable for long-term development. Which e-commerce tools are best suited for Indonesian sellers to perform external traffic redirection? How can TikTok sellers use e-commerce tools to enhance traffic conversion rates?
Meanwhile, live commerce remains the most popular way to drive sales. Optimizing live content and operations can also help improve traffic conversion rates to some extent. What aspects should be optimized in live streaming to further enhance traffic conversion rates on TikTok?
With these questions in mind, at 7.5 degrees, we have invited Rinaldi Tjhin, Chief Services Officer , and Ferry Tenka, Chief Product Officer at SIRCLO which is the leading omnichannel commerce enabler in Indonesia, to discuss the breakthroughs in Indonesian e-commerce under the new regulations.
