An Evening with Von Miller raised $100,000 in Texas

The Woodlands, TX – (April 7, 2017) – Texas native Von Miller returned to his home state a day before Texas A&M’s annual Maroon and White spring game to raise awareness and funds for Von’s Vision.

Miller’s foundation, Von’s Vision, exists with the mission to provide low-income students with the eye care and corrective eyewear they need to be their best in the classroom and in life. Since its founding in 2012, the all-pro Denver Broncos outside linebacker and Aggie great’s foundation has provided more than $1,775,000 in exams and eye glasses to low income Denver students.

While remaining active in Denver, Miller used the event, An Evening with Von Miller, to kick off efforts to help students in Texas.

The nearly 100 guests in attendance raised $100,000 at An Evening with Von Miller to bring a Von’s Vision Day to Texas A&M’s campus.

Von’s Vision Day, a program of Von’s Vision, provides screenings, eye exams, and if needed, corrective eyewear to students. As much as 80% of the learning a student does occurs through his or her eyes—when vision is lacking, a student will face difficulties in the classroom. The program on Texas A&M’s campus will help the 72% of students who receive financial and the nearly 22% of students who come from families with incomes 200% below the poverty line.

"Texas A&M played an important part in my life—I am excited to give back in a very real way. Eye care probably isn’t top of mind for college students, so I’m bringing it into the spotlight," said Miller. “Funds raised tonight will change lives—sometimes the problem in school isn’t an intelligence problem, it’s just vision. Von’s Vision provides opportunities for kids to succeed in the classroom and in life.”
