An Evening of Leadership and Vision: GYLSCO Institutional Dinner in Madagascar

On December 12th, 2024, Antananarivo’s Le Marais restaurant hosted a pivotal event for the Global Youth Leadership for Sustainable Cocoa (GYLSCO). This gathering of leaders and visionaries highlighted our mission to empower youth to drive sustainability and innovation in the cocoa sector.

We were privileged to have Her Excellency Mrs. Rafaravitafika Rasata, Minister of Foreign Affairs, as patron of the evening. Her inspiring address emphasized youth as engines of Madagascar’s sustainable development. Her Excellency was joined by:

- His Excellency Mr. David Ralambofiringa, Minister of Industrialisation and Commerce and President of the Cocoa Council. He was joined by his Chief of Staff and Directors.

- His Excellency Mr. Max Fountaine, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, his Chief of Staff and Directors.

- International representatives from the UN and leaders from key industries.

GYLSCO leadership introduced this one-year program to develop 25 youth leaders per country, including Madagascar, C?te d’Ivoire, Ghana, Cameroon, and Nigeria. The program includes a 9-month international exchange, several international boot camps to inspire communities, and a global summit to share best practices. By addressing critical cocoa sector challenges, GYLSCO fosters sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation.

We eagerly anticipate hosting the June 2025 international bootcamp in Madagascar’s Diana region. This will highlight Madagascar’s leadership in sustainability and innovation, while showcasing its natural beauty and rich heritage.
