How was March for you? Today’s ONS figures showed the value of March online sales in the UK were down 0.9%. But we always think that what the market is doing as a whole is a red herring. There are always opportunities for online retailers to grow their sales; that’s what we are all about.
One great way to find those opportunities is to attend eVendLab, our online retailing unconference:
eVendLab is now FREE!
Due to huge interest from all over the UK, we have decided to make eVendLab a bigger, FREE online event!
Request your free ticket: https://www.evendlab.com
Anyone who has already bought a ticket will be refunded in full. Thanks for your support!
eVendlab is for anyone who manages an online retail business; the format means that you will come away with buckets of ideas to find new avenues for sales or improve what you already do.
To remind you, an unconference is an event where participants decide the agenda. Unlike a normal conference, this event is highly interactive, with multiple discussion groups. There are no keynote speeches, but instead, you will participate in discussions with 250+ eCommerce professionals, swapping knowledge and making connections.
Channel of the month: Mirakl Marketplaces
Mirakl is a platform that allows large retailers to launch a third-party marketplace. Companies that use the service include B&Q, Debenhams, Decathlon, FeelUnique and Carrefour. The strength of Mirakl is in these big names; there are over 400 marketplaces on the platform from which to choose. To sell on the platform, sign up for a Mirakl account and choose which marketplaces you want to sell on.
From experience, the Mirakl onboarding experience is a pain, and the system is not that easy to use. However, it allows you to generate incremental sales from the UK and internationally at a similar cost to Amazon (15%, although this does vary by marketplace).
Claiming for lost/damaged FBA items
In the latest episode of the How to Grow Your eCommerce Business Podcast, Trevor talks to Will Cooper from Rev Up about how to automatically automate Amazon FBA Claims.
Amazon warehouses frequently lose and damage stock. Will Cooper from Rev Up Technology estimates this can be as much as 3% of sales. Unfortunately, Amazon does not always reimburse merchants, which is a hidden cost of doing business.
Even if you know the reimbursement process, getting around to it is difficult and time-consuming, which is where companies like Rev Up come in. They take the entire process off your hands for a small commission based on what they recover for you. They promise to address all issues, no matter how small. This is a no-brainer!
That’s it for now. If there’s a topic you want to see in this newsletter, just let us know.
