Even if your team looks unconventional, it can still pack a punch.

Even if your team looks unconventional, it can still pack a punch.

The beach looked tantalising but to get to it, the teenage couple had to cross an expanse of grass riddled with prickly bindis.

I hadn't taken much notice of them at first, but suddenly became aware of a hopping motion at the corner of my vision.

There they were, moving like crazed insects over the grass, each bouncing on one foot with their other leg raised.

It took a moment to realise what was happening and then I couldn't look away.

Both were wearing a single thong (before some readers get too excited, I mean traditional Aussie footwear, a flip-flop in some countries) - one person on their left foot and the other on the right. The footwear-sharing meant they could propel themselves across the grass without getting prickled feet.

Even funnier was the fact that the available footwear clearly belonged to the girl of the pair. Not only was the guy hopping a reasonable distance at speed, he was doing it on a piece of rubber that only covered half his foot.

Sometimes it's the simplest reminders, isn't it? What a memorable and a very practical illustration of teamwork at its best.

During the dark days of COVID, many of us have worked in isolation, divided by our computer screen from the rest of our team.

That doesn’t need to stop us reaching out or sharing experiences; the good, the bad and the downright bizarre.

Who’s helped you avoid the “prickles” underfoot? Who have you supported? Now is a great time to make those trusting relationships even stronger.

I still can't think of flip flops as thongs! Great example of sharing and caring teamwork.
