Even web design is circular

This is just a quick one, to point out something I noticed recently.

Notification from 2010 or so on facebook.

Spot the difference

Notification from Linkedin that includes a reference to a a connection completing a puzzle and encouraging me to solve it to.
Notification from 2024 on LInkedIn

Despite a fifteen-year gap between the two platforms, their notification strategies remain remarkably similar.

Both Facebook and LinkedIn leverage peer pressure to encourage user participation.

Whether it's the thrill of beating a friend's score or the desire to showcase one's intelligence, the underlying principle is the same: to motivate users to engage with the platform for the sake of the platform itself. In the end, both notifications serve as a reminder that even the most sophisticated platforms use simple things to solve big problems.

Definitely a big lesson in not over engineering solutions here.
