Even King needs Pension?

Even King needs Pension?

This is a story of a kingdom long long ago in the western part of India, where there was a unique way to select the King.

The king was to be selected for a period of 5 years.

After every 5 years, a special elephant used to come out from the jungle, inside the city in the main courtyard with a flower garland in its trunk.

Whichever villager’s neck the elephant put the flower garland on, was automatically crowned the king for a period of next 5 years.

But there was a flip side to this too.

After completion of 5 years the king was to be left outside the kingdom where there flowed a deep river and a dense jungle full of dangerous animals was across this river.

Normally at the end of 5 years, the king had to be forcefully carried to the end of the kingdom as it was an unpleasant experience to let go such immense respect and glory the King had enjoyed in 5 years tenure.

This story is about?Rajababu?the current king.

The 5 years of Rajababu were glorios and he earned lots of wealth and spent it on his family and also development of the kingdom.

Surprisingly?Rajababu, whose tenure was about to get over, was smiling away cheek to cheek on the day of the last day of his kingship.

On the outskirt of the kingdom, there were 4 strong & stout boatmen waiting with a boat, to take?Rajababu?to the other end of the shore, where the dense jungle began.

On advice of the vazir, to be doubly sure that?Rajababu?dosent run away, he was accompanied by 4-5 soldiers to escort him to the outskirt of the kingdom.

The jungle had dangerous animals and to survive that jungle even for 1/ 2 days would be a difficult task.

The 4 boatmen who was designated to ferry the king to the other end of the river, were surprised to see that?Rajababu?was coming along joyfully and full of enthusiasm and no force was required to push him.

Curious to know the reason for the joyfulness, the boatmen asked Rajababu.?

Rajababu explained to them that he clearly knew that his tenure as a King was only for period of 5 years, so he had started planning from day 1 his entire journey. He had seen other kings just enjoy the luxuries and not plan for after the tenure.

This is what?Rajababu?did:

1.?????During the 1st?year, he sent his army to clear the trees of a huge piece of land inside the forest on the other side of the river

2.?????During year 2, he sent his ministers to design a town on that huge piece of land

3.?????In year 3, he sent artisans and construction workers to build that town as per design

4.?????In year 4, he requested traders and businessman to set up shops and trade on that land

5.?????And in the final year as King, he sent a bunch of villagers to start residing on that land across the river

The trumpets and sounds of celebration which the boatmen were hearing, were of the villagers in the jungle who were eager to welcome the coming of the king.

We can draw an analogy with each of us working as either businessmen or private service employees.

Till the age of 60 years, each of us is a king, earning income and spending money and living our royal life just like a king.

In this rhythm, we don’t realize that after 60 years (retirement age) each of us is going to face the inevitable jungle phase. It is up to us, how well we plan for this crucial stage for oneself and dependents.

Why don’t we start planning for that stage of life when this realization comes in that retirement is bound to happen.

So that we do what we?like?to do, during that phase and not crib about no income and continuously running expenses and some or the other health complications.

We are not in a government service that we will get a fix pension on monthly or quarterly basis.

Have you prepared for your jungle period?
