CCP Games , the Icelandic developer, has made headlines with the introduction of “Project Awakening,” a game incorporating blockchain technology. This venture marks a significant milestone for the developer, known for the intricate universe of EVE Online. "Project Awakening" is poised to integrate blockchain technology, amplifying anticipation ahead of EVE Online's 11th anniversary, celebrated for its sophisticated gameplay and economic realism.

The developer's venture into blockchain with Project Awakening has sparked interest, branding it as a "Web3" and "blockchain" game. CCP Games, with a 26-year legacy, has earned a reputation for EVE Online's challenging gameplay and dynamic player-driven events.

The announcement of Project Awakening, without plans to incorporate blockchain into EVE Online, signifies CCP Games' shift towards innovative technologies. The company secured $40 million in March 2023, with Andreessen Horowitz leading the funding round, to develop this new game.

CCP Games CEO Hilmar V. Pétursson stated that the game's blockchain components would enable players to "add their own features and functionality to the experience."
