Earth VC led the $1.5M funding round of Solar AI Technologies

High energy prices are leading to a solar boom across the world, but in Singapore, many homeowners are still hesitant to install solar panels because of the high cost, says Bolong Chew, the founder of Solar AI Technologies. The startup wants to make solar energy more accessible in Southeast Asia with a rent-to-own model that helps customers start saving on their energy bills from the start. It recently raised $1.5 million in seed funding, led by Earth Venture Capital with participation from Undivided Ventures, Investible, and climate-tech angel investor David Pardo.

The 6th International Conference on Multimedia Analysis and Pattern Recognition (MAPR) supported by VAPR (Vietnamese Association on Pattern Recognition) will be held in Quy Nhon on October 5-6, 2023. The aim of this conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry to share their latest research findings, and experimental results and consolidate potential collaborations on pattern recognition, multimedia analysis, and related areas.

CLIMATE INVESTMENT INSIGHTS

UNCTAD’s World Investment Report 2023 reveals a widening annual investment deficit that developing countries face as they work to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

• The gap is now about $4 trillion per year – up from $2.5 trillion in 2015 when the SDGs were adopted.
• The report shows that global foreign direct investment (FDI) fell 12% in 2022 and analyses how investment policy and capital market trends impact investment in the SDGs, particularly in clean energy.
• It highlights that developing countries need renewable energy investments of about $1.7 trillion each year but attracted only $544 billion in clean energy FDI in 2022
