EVASIONES. THE STREET AS FICTION

The exhibition “Evasiones. The Street as Fiction” aims to offer visitors a creative and reflective pause, stepping away from contemporary dynamics dominated by media consumption and social networks. Through urban art and graffiti, tensions are explored between artistic autonomy and its integration into mainstream culture, addressing everything from hyper-commercialization to the interaction with new technologies, the assimilation of mainstream, or conceptual vandalism—practices deeply tied to the expansion of urban subcultures and countercultures.

Les Frères Ripoulain (“Desperate Housewives”, Marc Cherry)

This collective expo presents works that challenge the stereotypes of urban art, promoting new ways of understanding it. In this context, the street becomes a unique space for representation, simulation, and social construction, where creative realities and fictions are articulated, defining its aesthetic, function, and cultural relevance. These artistic practices, rooted in the urban environment, foster divergent thinking, open critical debates, and legitimize expressions that have been marginalized or confined.“Evasiones. The Street as Fiction” is thus presented as a curatorial exercise that not only documents these dynamics but also invites a reconsideration of how urban art interacts with public spaces and its value within the contemporary art discourse. The project aims to relocate these manifestations outside the conventional framework of traditional exhibitions, offering a critical and novel perspective that documents and reflects on the forms of evasion emerging in these creative environments. The show is aimed at both scholars and researchers in the art world and anyone interested in discovering the most human, unknown, and reflective aspects of graffiti and urban art. The opening will take place on September 28th from 6 pm to 9 pm. Admission is free, and some of the artists featured in the exhibition will be attending, along with a live performance by musician Enric Ponsa. The exhibition will be open until November 23rd and parallel activities will be organized for all audiences.

The exhibition will feature the work of renowned artists from the scene, including Sebas Velasco, Ampparito & Irene Luna, Les Frères Ripoulain, Vandals On Holidays, Maz & Riaq Miuq (Alén do Cascallo),?FMF, Jean Philippe Illanes, Yoni and Sonja Ben
