The company, founded in 1937 by Franz Kammerhofer, was originally based in Fels am Wagram and was initially run as a metalworking shop and workshop for agricultural machinery. Only gradually did the business area change to the automotive industry, and the metalworking industry faded increasingly into the background.
1972, the time had come: a commercial agreement was concluded with Renault, and the successful relationship that continues to this day could begin. The location in Fels soon became too small, so the Kammerhofer family decided to move to Tulln, which was then realized in 1977. Twenty-one years later, a second location was established in Horn. The move to K?nigstetter Stra?e finally took place in 2016.
Today, Kammerhofer sells Renault and Dacia cars. Recently, they have also specialized in sports cars. “With the Alpine car brand, we are the only ones selling a sports car brand in the region,” reports managing director Hannes Kammerhofer. In 2023, the company recorded a particular success: the best-selling car in the Tulln district was the Dacia Sandero in its range.
“We are pioneers when it comes to electromobility: we have had electric cars in our portfolio since 2010,” says Managing Director Stefan Kammerhofer.
At that time, they were still absolute niche products, but the proportion of these vehicles increased.
Kammerhofer is not only a pioneer in this area because, with PV systems at both business locations, the company is more than self-sufficient. Good use has been found for the excess electricity: a 150 kW/h hypercharger charging station has been in operation since 2022 and will soon be expanded to a charging capacity of 300 kW/h.
