This weeks EV news from Australia and around the world ?? (spoiler alert: it's a good week to be a Tesla supporter)

?? The Tesla Model Y has officially earned itself the title of safest car in Europe, being awarded a 5-star safety rating by Euro NCAP and top scorer across test categories. The outstanding results are a new record for vehicle safety and the electric vehicle maker is being praised for its dedication to safety improvements. The Australasian NCAP also recently announced a 5-star safety rating for the Model Y.

?? August proved to be a record-month for battery electric vehicle sales in Australia, commanding 4.4% of the overall market share (more than twice that of 2021). 2,380 Tesla Model 3s were delivered to customers during the month, propelling the world's biggest EV maker into the monthly top 10 for the first time in Australia. 1,017 Model Ys were also delivered, giving Tesla a 3.6% share of the overall new car market in August.

?? Ford has confirmed the E-transit Custom van will arrive in Australia next year, an electrified version of the hugely popular commercial vehicle. It is part of the company's wider plan to offer "at least five" electrified vehicles by the end of 2024 to its customers down under ??

?? Tesla has received government funding to build four massive Superchargers across its home state of California, including the world's largest site with a whopping 164-stall plan. The average size of a Tesla Supercharging station in Australia is six stalls.
