The EU is after its global AI leadership...Project EU XXI: Future Europe

Today’s AI, with Nvidia's GPUs, LLMs, ChatGPTs, etc.., could be qualified as 7D software tools, deep dumb, dull, dense, defective, dangerous and destructive to humanity and its environments, actually automatically regurgitating prompted pattern-matching token structures, as if generating human-like content, data, text, images, video, audio, code.

Its war cry is “our 7D technology is so powerful that it endangers the human race, which is why you should both invest in it and use it to replace all of your workers.”

As for now, we had two economic superpowers, China and the US, added with their big tech oligopolies, as Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, Tesla, Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, Xiaomi or ByteDance, competing for "pioneering" the first human mind faking AI, known as AGI or AGB (Artificial General Bullshit).

[OpenAI and the ilk: "Much Ado about Nothing": General Bullshit AI (BS/AI)]

Now, Europe plans to be on the wild goose chase, instead of creating the human-complete hyperintelligence as Trans-AI: How to Build True AI or Real Machine Intelligence and Learning.

Copying the US Big Tech Fake AI $500B Stargate Project, the EU is poised to burn hundreds of "billions of dollars on engineering salaries, custom chip fabs, human data annotation, data-center rents, racks and racks of GPUs and ASICs, whole gridsworth of electricity and entire aquifers’ worth of fresh water for cooling".

IMeanwhile, there is a valid I-Europe proposal published 6 years ago on the Futurium Platform of the European AI Alliance of European Commission:

I-Europe as the European Strategy on Artificial Intelligence (AI): I-Europe: INTELLIGENT SUPERPOWER: Smart, Secure, Strong, Social, Sustainable EUROPE (5sEU).

EU launches InvestAI initiative

At the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in Paris, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has launched InvestAI, an initiative to mobilise €200 billion for investment in AI, including a new European fund of €20 billion for AI gigafactories.

This large AI infrastructure is needed to allow open, collaborative development of the most complex AI models and to make Europe an AI continent. ?

The EU just announced InvestAI—a €200 billion initiative to make Europe a global AI leader.

This is the biggest AI investment in history, designed to strengthen Europe’s AI ecosystem at scale.

Could this be the turning point for European AI? Will it be enough to close the gap with the US and China... or rather Russia?

The EU's InvestAI Fund

The EU's InvestAI fund will finance four future AI gigafactories across the EU.

The new AI gigafactories will be specialised in training the most complex, very large, AI models. Such next-generation models require extensive computing infrastructure for breakthroughs in specific domains such as medicine or science. The gigafactories will have around 100 000 last-generation AI chips, around four times more than the AI factories being set up right now.

The gigafactories funded through InvestAI will be the largest public-private partnership in the world for the development of trustworthy AI. They will serve the European model of cooperative, open innovation, with a focus on complex industrial and mission-critical applications. The goal is that every company, not only the biggest players, can access large-scale computing power to build the future.

InvestAI will include a layered fund, with shares of different risk and return profiles. The EU budget would derisk the investment of other partners. The Commission's initial funding for InvestAI will come from existing EU funding programmes which have a digital component, such as Digital Europe Programme and Horizon Europe, and InvestEU. Member States can also contribute by programming funds from their Cohesion envelopes. Funding of AI gigafactories with a mix of grants and equity will serve as one of the pilot cases for strategic technologies announced in the Competitiveness Compass.

The Commission has already announced the initial seven AI factories in December and will soon announce the next five. The existing support for AI Factories of €10 billion, co-financed by the EU and the Member States, is already the largest public investment in AI in the world, and will unlock over ten times more private investment. It already provides massive access for start-ups and industry to supercomputers". ?

The wise solution for Europe is to go for the I-Europe as the European Strategy on Artificial Intelligence (AI) focusing not on the Fake and False AI, but the REAL and TRUE AI as 'Trans-AI: How to Build True AI or Real Machine Intelligence and Learning".
