Technology shapes the future of e-commerce

Paul Scratchley, Commercial Director at Eurora and e-commerce expert, was the guest speaker of the Irish Tech News podcast. He explained how Brexit created uncertainty in cross-border trade and complicated UK/EU exports, particularly for SMEs. He also shared how the AI technology developed by Eurora can simplify cross-border trade, and reminded the importance of HS code allocation, the backbone of cross-border trade.

"Having an accurate HS code and having an accurate duty and tax calculation is vital. We built an AI that is capable of looking at the white noise around the description of goods." Listen to the full interview below. ??


US sellers return to the EU market with the IOSS

“It was very complicated to navigate the rules. We stopped shipping to the EU because we couldn’t manage the VAT requirements.” Ajith Mathew, Senior Contracts Manager at the US-based National Organization?AAIDD, had to stop shipping to the EU when new tax rules came.

Yet, he managed to return to the EU market with Eurora's IOSS service, which takes care of his EU taxes. “Each month, we get a reminder from our Tax Consultant about the monthly EU sales report due, so we can send it to Eurora on time, and then they take care of the tax return on our behalf.”
