European Travel Destinations to watch
To many, travel is the world’s biggest gift. Getting away from your everyday life and escaping hectic routines is an essential piece of freedom and therefore choosing where to travel, especially for leisure stays, is a decision that is becoming increasingly more important to people.??
Europe has traditionally been the most visited continent on the planet and?accounts for 50% of the world's tourist arrivals, which leaves the question, what’s next for European #travel? As travel continues to modernise and the habits of travellers are changing ever so drastically, where and how are people going to travel, and what are the so called “hidden gems” that everybody is now looking for??
The popularity of #Europe is largely due to the authenticity and cultural diversity of many regions on the continent. It’s no secret that countries like #France, #Spain, #Portugal and #Italy are very popular amongst local and #international leisure travellers, as these countries are particularly rich in places worth exploring. But what about those destinations that are less known? Where can you find the perfect spot to relax and forget, free your mind and also get inspired by new impressions?

Eastern Europe Is Showcasing Exciting Destinations
Since I have taken on my role as CEO Europe & North Africa for @Accor’s Premium, Midscale and Economy division I have been fortunate enough to discover some incredible destinations throughout Europe that I was not familiar with before. Here are some highlights that rank high on my current list of places to visit and that I warmly recommend adding to your travel agenda:?
Whilst this list is my very personal opinion, it does show that the Eastern part of Europe clearly has incredible potential and there are many exciting places that are yet to be discovered. #Accor’s development efforts in Eastern Europe have always been substantial and we are proud to have such a strong presence in the region already - our ambitions here will only grow moving forward and we will look to expand, particularly in the Mediterranean Basin and in other beach destinations.??
Now that I have shared my list of travel recommendations, I encourage you to tell me yours. Also, I would be curious to hear if you have been to any of the above destinations and what you think about them.?

9 个月Great suggestions, especially Kolasin, which I knew nothing about, and I am constantly looking for uncrowded places to ski. My son recently went to Georgia, and whereas the ski slopes don't present the variety we have in the Alps, it was great not to have to queue for ages and dodge snowboarders! You are so right about the importance of our cultural heritage which travelers to Europe are seekinig, which is why I find myself recommending hotels which in their decor, have not succombed to the trendy, standardized, contemporary interior design seen everywhere the world over, so impersonal, so global

1 年I really like your article. And I shoud add that nightlife is also excellent in Warsaw ?? Durr?s - questioning this city. No doubt Albania is a must seen, with cristal clear beaches and amazing remote landscape on the mountain, and beautiful lakes. But not sure about this city as it seem to be already ??dead?? with massive tourism. Best :-)

1 年Great article, Patrick Mendes! As a travel enthusiast, I absolutely agree with your points on the increasing significance of travel in our lives, especially in these times when escapism has become more than just a leisure activity but a form of rejuvenation. Krakow's booming creative and restaurant scene is a wonderful juxtaposition to its rich historical backdrop, while Bucharest indeed offers a pulsating nightlife that rivals many Western European capitals. I'm particularly intrigued by your mention of Durr?s, Albania. The tranquillity of its beaches and coastline sounds like the perfect antidote to urban fatigue. It's heartening to see Accor's strategic efforts in developing their presence in these less-trodden paths. Not only does it offer travelers more options, but it also significantly contributes to local economies. I would be remiss if I didn't add my own hidden gem to the list: Ljubljana, Slovenia. A charming city with a confluence of Roman, Medieval, and Modernist architecture, surrounded by lush landscapes, it's an undiscovered jewel in the European travel circuit. Looking forward to your future articles and travel recommendations! Best regards,
