European steel purchasing organisations establish astedis network

Dear readers,

astedis is a unique first address for the steel industry - the new European network of five purchasing organisations!

On 1 September 2023, leading steel purchasing organisations have contractually joined forces to form astedis (association of steel distribution). The founding partners are NORDWEST from Germany, Coalsider from Spain, the European Steel Group from Poland, Sider Center from Italy and SOCODA from France.

The current five astedis partners are responsible for a total purchasing volume of around 3.5 million tonnes of steel products. In total, the new network represents over 200 medium-sized steel trading companies in Europe.

The aim of astedis is to become a central sales reference for the most important European producers and to establish strategic working relationships with all relevant manufacturers.

Co-founder Claudio Kemper, Head of the Steel Division at NORDWEST: "We are convinced that our strategic network will open up new opportunities for all partners involved. Together, the cooperation also wants to face future challenges and changes in the steel market, which include topics such as digitalisation, changing procurement markets and green steel."
