European Mobility Week - 2021
This week it’s European mobility week 2021. This year's theme: “Safe and Healthy with Sustainable Mobility”. A topic that we are pretty passionate about.
Are you a car owner who is willing to contribute towards a more sustainable life? Then we have 4 suggestions for you. Some are super easy and have a significant impact on the environment.
1.Reserve a parking spot before you leave - reduce CO2 emission
Do you know that 1 car on average spends 17 hours a year searching for parking spots on the streets or in garages? This causes traffic jams, but also unnecessary CO2 emission. Reserve a spot via ParkBee before you leave and drive directly to your destination.
2.Share your car - give space back to the city
There are 8.3 million stationary cars in the Netherlands and there are approximately 15 million parking spaces. Car ownership takes up too much space, especially in cities where public spaces are scarce. Luckily you can share your car with friends or family through sharing platforms like Snappcar, to free the space in your surroundings.
3.Park at the border of the city - contribute to city liveability
Car traffic leads to traffic jams and local pollution. By parking your car at a parking location at the outskirts of the city, you are able to reduce pollution and traffic jams in the city. Park + Ride systems offered by municipalities, and now ParkBee, allows you to park your car and continue your journey by e-bike or by public transport from ParkBee locations such as WestCord Fashion Hotel or The Student Hotel City in Amsterdam.
4.Use a shared e-bike/cargo/ e-moped for short distance trips
In the Netherlands 50% of the car trips are less than 7,5 km. Try out an electric bike/ e-scooter or cargo for these trips! Most cities in the Netherlands offer a variety of shared mobility options via apps such as Goiyo or Hely.
