When ‘FIT for 55’ came into force with a 55% greenhouse gas reduction target by 2030, the initial target for 2050 was to reduce emissions by 80-95%.

The brand-new target (reducing 90% by 2040) will be needed as a milestone to become climate-neutral by 2050.

Europe is the pioneer in climate policy and succeeds in enthusing other continents.
