With BDI PrimeTM Impute. Our testing can now easily and accurately impute from a low density array (illumina MaizeLD 3K) to a high density array (illumina MaizeSNP50), an innovative method designed to accelerate corn breeding efforts. This newly developed process takes advantage of improvements in imputation efficiency, accuracy and using a comprehensive database of 3800 lines of dent and sweet corn for haplotype detection.?

This new method can help corn breeders to use a 3K panel at a reduced cost in comparison with the corn 50K genotyping array providing >95% accuracy even without having the information on your parental lines. The method implemented in FImpute exploits both linkage disequilibrium among markers and relationships (close and distant) among samples by searching for shared haplotypes from the longest to the shortest. The long haplotypes mainly capture information from close relationships among samples and shorter haplotypes capture linkage disequilibrium.

?As a testing service provider, EBDI, has committed resources to continue its efforts to grow through innovation. Chief Science Officer, Dr. Farhad Ghavami stated, “This imputation method and strategy is significantly different from what is available in the market today.?Most imputation methods need high density genotyping or whole genome sequencing information from a handful of parental lines in your population to be able to impute accurately. Our method, however, doesn’t rely on high density genotyping or sequencing information of the parental lines, but the comprehensive database we have created over years and curated for this purpose.”
