EURES and European Online Job Days: fostering job opportunities in Europe
This year marks the 30th anniversary of EURES, which has been connecting jobseekers and employers across borders since 1994; and for the last 15 years, European (Online) Job Days, also known as E(O)JDs, have been an integral part of this mission too.
To celebrate this milestone, the E(O)JDs will host a full-day online information event ‘Today's dream, tomorrow's reality’, on 22 October from 9.00 am to 4.20 pm CET. Be part of it: https://europeanjobdays.eu/en/todaysdream-tomorrowsreality

What are the European Online Job Days?
E(O)JDs are virtual recruitment events designed to connect jobseekers with employers across Europe, offering participants the chance to explore job opportunities in a wide range of sectors - from healthcare to tourism - while receiving practical advice on living and working abroad.
?
Why ‘Today's dream, tomorrow's reality’ stands out
This special E(O)JD event will bring together 31 countries, offering participants the support they need to take the next big step and move their career abroad, as well as real-time advice from EURES Advisers.
We talked to Patrizia Nitka, Head of EURES Bavaria, Henrik Atterstr?m, EURES Sweden Manager and Toine Witters, National EURES Employer Services Manager at UWV about what makes this event unique and how to make the most of it.
According to Patrizia Nitka, Head of EURES Bavaria, the idea for this event was born from the collaborative energy within the EURES network. ‘We decided to initiate the first-ever event with all 31 EURES member states,’ she shares. ‘With support from highly motivated colleagues across seven countries, we made it come true. For a month we all worked on top to realise this unique event and 31 countries are supporting it!’
This event isn't just about presenting job offers - it's about connecting people with the right opportunities. Each country will host virtual breakout rooms, offering insights into living and working conditions across Europe. From all EU members alongside Iceland, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Norway, EURES Advisers will be on hand to guide participants, answering questions in real time and providing country-specific advice.
?
Get ready for a live, interactive experience
Unlike traditional job fairs, this event will feature a live broadcast from a studio in Stockholm, where participants can ask questions, listen to real-life stories of people who have successfully moved to another country, and hear from experts about how to navigate cross-border job search. Toine Witters, National EURES Employer Services Manager at UWV, emphasises the event's interactive elements: ‘We expect over 10 000 people to join us during the day, and each participating country will have separate online breakout room where participants can get specific information about living and working conditions in that particular country.’

Why E(O)JD events are so effective
Over the years, European Online Job Days have grown into one of the most impactful platforms for both employers and jobseekers. Henrik Atterstr?m, EURES Sweden Manager, explains, ‘The E(O)JD platform allows participants to not only gather information about living and working in a specific country but also meet employers who are actively recruiting. The events become exciting through the direct meetings between the employers' concrete needs and the participants' actual competences.’
This combination of real-time insights and job matching is what makes E(O)JD events stand out. Employers can share their specific needs while participants highlight their skills, fostering meaningful connections that often lead to successful matchmaking.

Top tips for making the most of the event
?For jobseekers eager to get the most out of this event, Toine Witters offers some practical advice. ‘Study the programme on the EOJD website and join at the time when the topics that interest you the most are being discussed,’ he advises. Preparation is key - figure out which countries or sectors are most relevant to you and plan your day accordingly.
Networking opportunities will also be plentiful. Witters suggests taking full advantage of the breakout rooms: ‘Determine which country you want to learn more about and visit that specific room. Note the questions you have and ask them in the live chat room - you'll get an answer from us, and who knows, your question might even be answered live in the studio!’

Your invitation: Join us on 22 October
?‘Today's dream, tomorrow's reality’ is about more than just finding a job - it's about celebrating the spirit of mobility and opportunity that has defined EURES for the past 30 years. As Patrizia Nitka notes, ‘We are proud to support jobseekers across Europe with our services. Whether it’s advice on job opportunities, education, or financial support like the Targeted Mobility Scheme (TMS), our mission has always been to open doors for anyone looking to work abroad.’
