EUMOS announces groundbreaking standard for the ventilation of light vans
The European Safe Logistics Association – Eumos – will announce its upcoming standard for ventilation of light commercial vehicles in the framework of a press conference at IAA Transportation. Standard EUMOS 40250 – probably one of the most comprehensive standards for ventilation of light commercial vehicles with measurable outcomes – determines how to create safe air quality inside the vehicle by reducing moist and dangerous gases by ventilation. It also foresees a walk-around inspection of the vehicle for the driver to avoid any danger at opening.
ángel David Hernández , Chairman of Eumos, will present the objective of the standard at a press conference on 16 September at IAA Transportation. Angel says “This new standard is an achievement for the European Safe Logistics Association and the logistics industry adding another element of caution and responsibility to the safe transport of goods. It is vital that we ensure the safety of drivers of light commercial vehicles and other participants on the road by setting a benchmark to the transportation of gases.”
The Chairman of the Technical Committee responsible for the development of the standard – Gertjan Van Der Veer – is “excited about the achievement of EUMOS 40250 finally setting a standard for ensuring the good air quality inside a light commercial vehicle. LCVs do currently not fall into the full scope of existing legislation and standards in the area. The development of this standard could be achieved thanks to the hard work of senior experts in the area. Watch out for the publication of the standard foreseen in the course of the Autumn 2024.”

The European Safe Logistics Association – Eumos – is an independent non-profit association and follows the mission of improving safety throughout the logistics chain. Eumos relies on the exchange of best practices when working on safety standards for logistics in all transport modes. Thanks to the contribution by its members and their variety of expertise, Eumos has been instrumental in the elaboration of Annex 3 concerning Load Safety of Directive 47/2014/EU regarding Road Worthiness Control of Commercial Vehicles which has included the load stability testing standards EUMOS 40509 and 40511 into its provisions. In the interest of ensuring compliance with EU Policy in logistics safety and European and international logistics safety standards, Eumos has initiated projects aiming at certifying experts for cargo securing and transport packaging as well as at ensuring that the responsibility for cargo securing can be followed up via minimum requirements for European cargo safety cards.
