EUDR: Are mass balance chains of custody allowed?

According to the Regulation, all goods coming under its purview must be traceable back to the original land plot.

Because they do not ensure that the goods sold or exported are deforestation-free, mass balance chains of custody that permit the mixing of deforestation-free goods with goods of unknown origin or non-deforestation-free goods at any point in the supply chain are prohibited by the Regulation. Consequently, at every stage of the supply chain, goods that are sold or exported must be kept apart from goods whose provenance is unknown or from goods that do not involve deforestation. There is no necessity for complete identity retention because mass balance must be ruled out.
