EUDR - How does the Regulation link to the EU Renewable Energy Directive?

Since combating climate change and biodiversity loss is the main goal of both the Renewable Energy Directive and the Deforestation Regulation, their goals complement each other. Products and commodities covered by both acts will have to comply with regulations for both the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) and the EUDR's requirements for universal market access and accounting for renewable energy. These specifications complement one another and work well together. Under Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/807 supplementing Directive (EU) 2018/2001, certification systems for low-indirect land use change (ILUC) may be utilised by operators and traders as part of their due diligence systems to obtain information needed to satisfy certain traceability and information requirements outlined in Article 9 of the EUDR. Their use does not negate operators' and traders' legal requirements
