EUDR - Can an operator use the producer’s geolocation data?

Yes, but the operator—rather than the producer—is ultimately in charge of ensuring its accuracy. Smallholder producers (i.e., producers who do not themselves place products on the Union market and do not fit the description of operators and traders) are not covered by the Regulation.

In this scenario, the operator will have to ensure that the geolocation matches the land plot and that the area where the necessary product was produced is accurately mapped. Supporting measures for suppliers to achieve requirements of this Regulation, particularly for smallholders, through capacity building and other investments, are among the risk assessment procedures and actions that the operator might adopt.
