3 个月Thanks Darryl Carlton for a useful comparison. While I overall prefer the EU approach, I do think the requirement for High Risk AI apps to be fully explainable is doomed. The best models TODAY are unexplainable in terms of outputs for a specific prompt (making them problematic in clinical applications) and the emerging super models are likely to be even less explainable. The US patchwork quilt of regulations is always problematic but (as you note) it has been innovation-friendly. I have no solutions to the dilemma of powerful, unexplainable models. We can test extensively for safety, but edge cases will always arise (just look at the edge cases still tripping up Tesla’s FSD self-driving tech). In the very latest software update, which overall auto-drives well, it can be seen in a video posted by Chuck Cook to be hugging the curb while travelling at speed in what is new emergent (and incorrect) behaviour. No testers caught that - no-one expected that behaviour to emerge. And yet, here we are. Lawyers will try and have a field day dealing with emergent edge case AI system failures I believe. Whether any such cases make it through courts is less clear. Perhaps you have a view on this Ella Cannon ?
