On September 15, 2023, in Bavaria, Germany, the EU Tech Forum 2023 'Tech & Lederhose' organized by EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) brought together leaders, experts, and professionals to explore technology's role in sustainability. The event's highlights included three keynote speakers, a diverse array of relevant speakers across multiple sessions, and three engaging discussion panels on Innovation, Sustainability, and Cooperation. The grand finale featured the presentation of the prestigious SDG Awards and a memorable closing ceremony.

Cardinal Peter Turkson , a prominent Catholic leader, highlighted the importance of addressing global environmental challenges and technology's role in his speech at the event. He served as the Prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development until 2021. He is widely recognized for his passionate advocacy of environmental responsibility and for his co-authorship of Pope Francis's encyclical 'Laudato Si'.

Cardinal Peter Turkson in his opening remarks, stated:

"We acknowledge that, living in a finite world, we cannot use our resources infinitely without a plan. At the Academy, we began to reflect on the sustainability of the earth and humanity, merging the two. For Pope Francis, both go hand in hand. The Pope reminds us to listen to the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor. We face urgent challenges, such as the slow implementation of sustainable and urgent solutions. The tragedy of the commons teaches us that we cannot treat the limited resources of our planet as infinite. Therefore, technological innovations are essential, but their applications have been too slow. We need to innovate not only in technologies but also in our hearts and attitudes. The first innovation must start within us. And cooperation is crucial, as we are relational beings. It's time for action towards sustainability."

Moritz K?rner , a prominent MEP in the European Parliament, known for his dedication to innovation, digital transformation, and public service.

Moritz K?rner's message at the EU Tech Forum 2023:

"Today, at the EU Tech Forum 2023, I urge us all to reflect on our European achievements. Peace, which is the foundation of our present time, is something that young people in Europe have difficulty imagining living without. Our unity has kept us from past conflicts and enabled us to shape our collective future. Yet, significant political and economic changes are underway, influenced also by BRICS nations. To stay globally relevant, we must invest more in innovation across public and private sectors, reduce bureaucracy, and embrace technology and innovation with courage and openness. This is crucial for our continent's success in facing challenges."

Dieter H?rthe , a 40+ year entrepreneur, known for SME contributions and global diplomacy leadership as President of the European Senate of Economy.

In his speech, he said:

"Science is crucial for global challenges, and politicians must support it with action, not just words. I commend Mr. Obersk?mmler, an MEP, for his dedication to critical issues and reducing excessive regulations. We must make progress, especially in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on regions like Africa. As a General Consul for an African nation, I'm committed to fighting poverty. We all share social responsibility, and I'm proud to be part of the European Technology Chamber. Engaging with Africa's development is vital, and I appreciate the Chamber's excellent organization for these discussions."
