In a gesture of solidarity, the European Commission has allocated an extra €5.5 million in humanitarian aid to aid Armenians displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. This funding, accompanied by a €1.5 million portion for disaster preparedness, aims to enhance the resilience of vulnerable communities. The bulk of this allocation, €4 million, will be dedicated to providing displaced individuals with essential support such as cash transfers and vouchers for basic necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare.

Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenar?i?, emphasized the urgency of the situation, particularly with winter exacerbating the challenges faced by those who fled to Armenia last Autumn. This additional funding supplements the €12.2 million previously allocated by the EU, underlining its steadfast commitment to humanitarian efforts in the region.
Moreover, the EU's ongoing commitment underscores international solidarity, providing a lifeline for displaced Karabakh Armenians. Through targeted interventions and responsive aid distribution, the EU endeavors to mitigate the immediate challenges faced by these individuals, reinforcing their capacity to overcome hardships and rebuild their lives. This sustained support not only addresses urgent humanitarian needs but also cultivates a sense of stability and empowerment within the affected communities, paving the way for long-term resilience and recovery.
