EU Commission: UK no longer adequate after Brexit

What... did the EU Commission just release a statement saying that the UK will no longer be considered adequate following Brexit? Well we could have expected that. The EU Commission says: "[After 30 March 2019] The United Kingdom will then become a 'third country'." Besides an hinting towards an "adequacy decision", the EU Commission points companies towards alternatives such as Standard data protection clauses, Binding Corporate Rules, Codes of Conduct and Certification Mechanisms.
